Will fight for Telangana’s rightful funds, projects: MP Nama Nageswar
The same spirit will be continued in the days to come and we will fight for the State's rightful funds and projects from the Centre, says MP
by James EdwinKhammam: The performance of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs in the Lok Sabha in the first one year as a team has been successful, asserted party Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha and Khammam MP Nama Nageswar Rao.
Nageswar Rao said he, in coordination with the party MPs, had made all the efforts to protect the interests of Telangana. “The same spirit will be continued in the days to come and we will fight for the State’s rightful funds and projects from the Centre,” he told Telangana Today on the occasion of completing one year as MP.
“TRS working president and IT Minister K T Rama Rao also appreciated the work done by us in Parliament. There has been good team work by all MPs belonging to the party and we delivered what the Telangana government expected from us,” the MP said, adding that in his opinion, the economic stimulus package of Rs 20 lakh crore offered very little to the State.
After ascertaining the party line, the need to increase more funds for Telangana to address financial crisis triggered by coronavirus pandemic will be raised in the coming session of Lok Sabha, he noted.
Nageswar Rao explained that besides highlighting the issues of Telangana, he also promoted several welfare and developmental initiatives such as Rythu Bandhu, Palle Pragathi and others introduced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, in Lok Sabha.
Pending funds, projects
Despite several reminders, the Centre, Rao said, was yet to release funds for projects proposed under AP Reorganisation Act. “We will put pressure on the Centre in the ensuing Lok Sabha session on issues like establishing Tribal University, Bayyaram Steel Plant and others in TS,” he said.
The Centre had to release about Rs 29,891 crore to Telangana under different schemes as the delay had been affecting development works in the State, Rao said. Efforts would be made for the release of funds for 1000 km of green field highways planned in different districts in Telangana and 190 km of roads in Khammam. Similarly, the issue of extending Kothagudem-Sathupalli railway line to Kovvur in AP would also be taken up with the ministry concerned, he noted.
98% attendance
It is worth mentioning that Rao maintained 98 per cent attendance in the House while the national average was 84 per cent. His participation in debates was also much higher than the national average of 16.5 as he participated in 26 debates in the past on year.
Regulated farming
The MP called upon the farming community in Telangana to welcome and follow the regulated farming system introduced by the Chief Minister. The Centre would be asked to introduce this unique system across the nation to help farmers get better price for their produce.
