Availing the special flights, nearly 2,000 passengers have landed in Hyderabad from different countries since May 9, and on completing the mandatory formalities at airport, all of them were sent for the 14 day mandatory quarantine. Most of them were accommodated in different hotels for the quarantine period.

The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSDTC) has arranged food and accommodation for the passengers in different hotels in two different packages. The 14-day package was categorised into regular and premium hotel budgets for Rs 15,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.

Most passengers arrived from United States, Singapore, Muscat, Doha, Dammam, Jeddah, USA, Australia, Malaysia, Kuwait, Philippines and other countries. According to a senior official from TSTDC, health checks were being conducted for all the passengers at the hotels on daily basis and required assistance being extended to them.

On Saturday, about 85 passengers have left from the hotels to their respective homes in the city and native places. They were permitted to leave after conducting Covid tests and only on testing negative. However, all their details, including address, contact phone numbers, travel history were being recorded by the officials.

Save for a few, most of the passengers, who left for their natives are from different districts in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. They boarded the flights to Hyderabad and after staying here for 14 days, they are leaving for their hometowns in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and other places, said the official.

“The hospitality and the support extended by health and tourism departments have been good. They collected my samples and I am awaiting the reports, which are expected to be shared on Sunday night. I have already packed my bags and geared up to leave,” said a passenger, who arrived from United Kingdom.
