Kothagudem: A social media video helped a 60-year-old man who went missing two year ago to be reunited with his family.

According to police, Venkateshwalru of Pinapakapatti Nagar of Burgampahad mandal in the district went missing in March 2018. The family members lodged a missing complaint at local police station and the search for the man was on.

One week ago, a youth belonging to Pinapakapatti Nagar watched a video on a social media app and found the missing man in the video. He informed Venkateshwarlu’s son Peddiraj, who contacted the police and told them about the social media video that showed his father.

The police traced the number and called the person who posted the video which showed the missing man receiving food from police as part of coronavirus assistance. Upon enquiry, it was found that Venkateshwalru was in Ludhiana.

With the help of Punjab police and Peddiraj’s contacts in Punjab, the family members made a video call to the number to ascertain that the man was indeed Venkateshwarlu, who was deaf and dumb.

Burgampahad SI Balakrishna informed the media that they provided a vehicle pass to Peddiraj to travel to Ludhiana and also informed the police there. Peddiraj reached Punjab on Saturday, met his father at Ludhiana on Sunday and they have returned home.
