Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stopped alleged unauthorised construction activities on Osmania University lands on Monday.

The Osmania University authorities, led by Registrar Ch Gopal Reddy had approached Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Friday and sought his intervention over unauthorised construction, allegedly being taken-up by some people who had also managed to create false documents.

OU officials requested GHMC to recall or cancel permissions issued, if any, and not to allow any construction in the said land measuring 3,296 square yards. Following the request from OU, GHMC checked the facts and found that there was no valid permission for construction of a compound wall and earlier issued permission had lapsed in 2012.

When GHMC officials inspected the site, they noticed that plot owners were digging the land and cleaning the site area for construction. The plot holders shall have to apply afresh for building or compound wall permission, which will be examined by GHMC as per rules, officials said.
