Unmarked Garda car stops motorist who tests positive for cannabis

An unmarked patrol car in Kildare observed a driver using a mobile phone while driving.

When stopped, the driver also tested positive for driving while intoxicated and was arrested.

Traces of cannabis were detected in his system.

A fine was issued for the mobile phone offence.

Gardaí added that a court date will follow in coming weeks for the drug driving charge.
