Redmi K30i 5G launched: A cheaper Redmi K30 5G with one notable difference
by Ricci RoxMonths after releasing the Redmi K30 5G, Xiaomi has now launched another K30-series phone. The Redmi K30i 5G is a "lite" version of the K30 5G and offers similar specs bar one notable change while costing a bit less.
Word of the Redmi K30i 5G first surfaced a month ago. The phone was touted to be a cheaper version of the regular K30 5G, and that's exactly what it seems to be, as it has now been launched in Xiaomi's home China.
The Redmi K30i 5G is identical to the Redmi K30 5G. It features the same 6.67-inch FHD+ 120 Hz LCD as the more expensive phone. It's an HDR10-compliant display, and there's a pill-shaped hole punch at the top left corner, playing host to a 20 MP selfie camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. Under the hood are a Snapdragon 765G, 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Power is supplied by a 4500 mAh battery, with 30 W fast-charging keeping charge times down.
Just like the Redmi K30 5G, the K30i 5G sports a quad-rear camera setup, albeit with one major difference. It's the only notable difference between the phones, too: it uses a 48 MP main camera versus the 64 MP camera on the K30 5G. The main camera is joined by a 120-degree FoV ultra-wide-angle shooter, an 8 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
Like the K30 5G, the new K30i 5G sports a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Redmi K30i 5G carries an MSRP of CNY 1,899 (US$266). An equally equipped K30 5G costs CNY 1,999 (US$280). A US$14 trade-off for a slightly worse camera isn't a bad deal to most buyers.
