AirPods Studio: Apple's US$349 over-ear headphones enter mass production ahead of WWDC 2020 unveiling
by Alex AldersonRumour has it that the AirPods Studio may have already entered mass production. Slated to be announced at WWDC 2020 next month, the US$349 over-ear headphones will compete with the likes of the Bose 700, the upcoming Sony WH-1000XM4 and the Surface Headphones 2.
There have been plenty of rumours lately about Apple being on the verge of releasing its first AirPods-branded over-ear headphones. WWDC 2020, which begins on June 22, has been offered as a potential opportunity to showcase its so-called AirPods Studio. Possibly launching alongside AirTags, DigiTimes now claims that the AirPods Studio has already entered mass production. Quoted by MacRumors, DigiTimes stated the following:
As Apple is likely to accelerate dropping its wired earphones, the vendor will resume normal shipments for AirPods 2 in the second half of the year and its new over-ear headphones, dubbed AirPods Studio, has also kicked off production, all securing growth momentum for rigid-flex boards suppliers for the devices, including Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Compeq Manufacturing, the sources said.
It is worth keeping in mind that DigiTimes has offered no sources for this assertion. However, mass-producing the AirPods Studio now fits with the proposed timeline of a release at WWDC 2020.
According to information published by Mark Gurman and Jon Prosser, the AirPods Studio will feature several advanced detection features and active noise cancellation (ANC). Expected to launch for US$349, Apple is said to have included a magnetic headband and earcups, too.
