Powkiddy X2: Affordable handheld console comes in at a low price while aping the Nintendo Switch
by Alex AldersonPowkiddy has launched a new, handheld games console. The Powkiddy X2 costs US$80 and looks unmistakably like the Nintendo Switch.
Powkiddy has released its latest handheld games console, the X2. Unmistakably a copy of the design of the Nintendo Switch, this is not the first time that Powkiddy has aped Nintendo hardware. The company released the Nintendo DS-inspired X18 last year, for example, and has multiple other mimics of popular consoles on its AliExpress store.
The X2 runs on an ARM Cortex-A7 quad-core processor that the manufacturer claims can operate at up to 1.3 GHz. Powkiddy has also included a 7-inch IPS display that operates at 1,024 x 600 pixels and a 3,000 mAh battery.
Meanwhile, the X2 has an HDMI output and a TF card reader should you wish to expand upon its 32 GB of storage. Powkiddy has included two micro USB ports for connecting controllers, which double as 5V DC inputs.
Powkiddy claims that the X2 can emulate multiple platforms, including the NeoGeo, NES, Super NES, Sega Mega Drive and the Sony PlayStation. The Powkiddy X2 can be ordered from AliExpress for US$80.
