HTC is all set to make its highly-awaited comeback in July this year with its first-ever 5G smartphone. The company is also working on a mid-range HTC Desire 20 Pro that will come with a Snapdragon 6xx chip, 6GB of RAM, and a triple-camera setup.

HTC is all set to make a comeback into the smartphone market in July this year with a 5G smartphone. Once revered as an industry leader in the business, the Taiwanese phone maker now struggles to stay afloat. The yet-to-be-announced device will be HTC's first 5G-ready offering, a milestone that most of its competitors hit quite some time ago.

It has been a while since HTC has released a proper flagship, so a Snapdragon 865-powered phone is in the cards. However, HTC could also take the Google route and opt for a 5G-ready Snapdragon 7xx SoC to keep prices low. HTC is working on a mid-ranger, too, according to Eprice. It is expected to arrive as the Desire 20 Pro, which will sport a Snapdragon 6xx chip, 6GB of RAM, and triple camera setup.

5G services will be available in Taiwan starting July, making it an ideal time for HTC to unveil its phone. However, the bigger question is, will this be enough to get HTC back on the radar? The smartphone market has only gotten more competitive since HTC's downfall, and the company will have to offer a lot more than nostalgia points for any hope to survive.
