PMPML to hit PCMC roads with odd-even seating from tomorrow

With the lockdown being slowly relaxed, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is eyeing to resume operations in Pimpri-Chinchwad from May 26.

To ensure safety of passengers, the transport body will resort to oddeven seating, with a 32-seater bus plying with only 21-seat occupancy.

Around 40 scheduled trips will be held within Pimpri-Chinchwad for regular passengers in a day. During earlier phases of the lockdown, the public transport was available only for those working in the essential service sectors.

However, vulnerable groups such as children below the age of 10 and senior citizens above 65 years will be barred from using the services as a precautionary measure to protect them from the virus.

Anant Waghmare, PMPML’s transport manager, said, “We will follow social distancing norms as best as we can and resume services with lesser capacity. People will be allowed to stand and travel.”
