I have not been keeping up with The Division 2 all that much with Destiny, Borderlands, Apex and Warzone to juggle, but I do always stop by when there’s a new Manhunt target to track down. I did manage to kill all the Rogue Agents this season, and it turns out that this model is going to continue the entire rest of the year.

But…Massive made a mistake. For some reason, they left audio files in the PTS which have now leaked and they detail literally the entire next three seasons of Manhunt targets, which include some very, very wild story developments with The Division 1 characters returning in particular.

If you don’t want any of this spoiled, I would turn away now and avoid these leaks. But I don’t regret reading them, personally, as it makes me more excited for what’s to come. These first surfaced on reddit, but Kotaku seems to have confirmed elements of them, so this does not appear to be fan fiction.

Season 2 Manhunt:

The target here is Division 1 loot farm boss Hornet, a friend of Keener’s who we thought we killed, but managed to be resurrected to return now so we can…kill him again. The sub-bosses will all be bug-themed (one is called “Termite”) and Hornet was sent to DC by Keener to recruit Outcasts for his cause. If we kill him, we get a “Repair Trap” skill, which will somehow be different than the Repair Hive, though we don’t know how yet. Killing Hornet should effectively end Keener’s legacy in the story for good.

Season 3 Manhunt:

Black Tusk’s Bardon is the main target, and is recruiting Rogue Agents to work with him, despite him not actually liking them. The curious development in this storyline is that Bardon works with a masked Hunter, yes, that scary looking one with all the Division watches, which will be part of this season, though even after reading this I’m not sure if we end up killing him or not, or if it even can die as it’s like Jason Voorhees. Story developments include a new Black Tusk character we meet, Natalia Sokolov, who may be Bardon’s boss, and also some hints that the Hunter has a Black Tusk background. I am sort of confused by this because I thought Hunters were a class of enemy rather than like, one guy, but maybe this is King Hunter or something. Killing Bardon gives us a Shrapnel Trap skill.

Season 4 Manhunt:

Here’s where things get very serious. The main target for this season is none other than Faye Lau, Division 1 ally turned Division 2 traitor. We learn more about the Sokolova family and their ties to Black Tusk, but the main beat of the story here is that Faye Laue goes to meet with President Ellis in White Oak, and while we are there to kill her, we’re told we can’t kill the President. But then she kills the President and frames us for it. There is nothing in the files that says we actually kill Faye Lau at the end of this or get a skill from her, so it’s possible she may get away.

Skyscraper

I am not sure what season this is in, but apparently there is data that suggests a fan-suggested idea may be coming to the game as an Underground replacement. A new “Skyscraper” activity would have us clearing floors of a huge Skyscraper, with the floors getting harder and harder over time, with “safe floors” acting as save points. 100 floors in total and eventually the checkpoints stop and it just gets really damn hard. Can literally remember reading about this exact idea on reddit a year or two ago.

Anyway, it sounds like The Division 2 is trying to make some real storytelling moves with these manhunts, rather than just throwing filler at us. I am curious to see how all of this plays out, assuming that it’s true. All indications are that it probably is, and we’ll know for sure this summer.
