REPORT: Antonio Brown Could Miss The Entire 2020 Season
by Darrelle LincolnFree-agent wide receiver Antonio Brown is coming off a 2019 campaign where he only got to suit up once for the New England Patriots because of his off-the-field issues.
It appears his hiatus could cost him the entire 2020 season as well.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there are too many factors for the NFL to consider before allowing him back on the field.
“Let’s go to Antonio Brown — now, this is an interesting case because the NFL, I’m told, is still reviewing his personal conduct case that there is just a lot to unpack,” Fowler said. “You have the September allegations, of course, of sexual assault and rape. You have an incident with a truck driver that resulted in battery charges.
“And so, there’s just not a lot of buzz right now, league-wide, about signing Antonio Brown. And that’s in part because there could be a lengthy suspension coming for him. So despite the talent, hardly a slam dunk that he plays in 2020.”
The media attention combined with Brown’s personality for wanting the spotlight would likely have a bunch of teams not looking his way just to avoid the distraction.
Brown has made headlines this offseason by working out with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. He even campaigned for his team to sign him.
In the end, it will be NFL front offices to make that decision on if his talent is enough to outweigh everything else.
