President Sisi follows up probe into doctor’s death from COVID-19

CAIRO - 25 May 2020: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi follows up the investigation launched by the Ministry of Health into the death of a physician infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday.

The investigation has been launched upon President Sisi’s directives in light of his keenness of implementing all healthy safety measures for the medical staff members, sources told Youm7 newspaper.

Minister of Health Hala Zayed ordered an investigation into the death of doctor Walid Yahia Abdel-Halim, who died from the COVID-19, in al-Munira hospital downtown Cairo on Monday, the Health Ministry announced in a statement.

On April 28, 2020, President Sisi ordered providing all needed medical supplies to the quarantine and isolation hospitals all over the country.

According to Presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady, Sisi followed up with the latest updates regarding workflow inside of the isolation hospitals, during a video conference meeting with a number of the hospital’s directors.

Sisi described the hospitals as one of the state’s main pillars to combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

Egypt recorded 702 new cases of the new coronavirus (COVID19) and 19 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 17,967 and 783 deaths, respectively, announced the Health Ministry said in its daily briefing on Monday.

Also, the test results of 5,481 people turned from positive to negative, including 4,900 people who totally recovered. It added that 179 patients left hospitals in the last 24 hours.
