US lethal cases reach 97 700 as spread seen as slowing down
by BNNIn the US, which is the country with currently the highest number of lethal cases of COVID-19 in the world, the death toll from the novel coronavirus has reached 97 722 on Monday, May 25, according to the data of the Johns Hopkins University.
American number of cases of infection for the length of the whole pandemic has on Monday reached 1 643 99.
In a tweet on Sunday, May 24, US President Donald Trump expressed optimism the spread of the virus in the country would continue to go down. «Cases, numbers and deaths are going down all over the Country!» Trump wrote.
British public broadcaster BBC reports that after the number of cases in Brazil have grown exponentially and it now has the second highest number of cases globally after the US, Washington has imposed travel restrictions on foreign nationals who have been in Brazil in the last 14 days.
