Estonia sees 20%-drop in foreign tourists in Q1
by BNNAs the effects of COVID-19 spread and related restrictions become visible in quarterly statistics, in the Estonian tourism industry a drop over 20% of foreign visitors in the first quarter of 2020 has been recorded in statistics from the Bank of Estonia as quoted by ERR.
On Monday, May 25, the Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports that every third tourist visited Estonia from Finland in the first quarter, but the number of tourists from Finland decreased by 20% compared to the same period last year.

Estonia is also popular among Russian tourists.
Every fourth guest arrived from Russia, the number of Russian tourists dropped by 10%.
Tourist spending
In the first three months of 2020, foreign tourist spending amounted to EUR 184 million in Estonia, which was 37 million less on year. As to Estonian tourist spending abroad, the statistics showed that Estonian residents spent EUR 190 million abroad, EUR 35 million less than a year ago, ERR reports.
