Atletico's first injury: Joao Felix has sprained his left knee

by

Atletico Madrid reported through an official statement that Joao Felix has suffered a sprain of the medial collateral ligament of the left knee. The Portuguese international is pending developments and could miss the resumption of the League.

Bad news for Atletico de Madrid. The team have announced that Joao Felix suffers a sprain in his left knee, making him the first injured player of the team to return to training.

The official medical report reads: "Joao Felix suffers a low-grade sprain of the medial collateral ligament of his left knee. The Portuguese international will have to wait to see how he progresses."

The team reported that the player was subjected to medical tests at the Clinic University of Salamanca, but does not report the estimated time for his recovery.

This is an injury that could prevent the Simeone from counting on his player for the return of the competition, scheduled for the week of 8 June, as reported by the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez.

In any case, the Portuguese could not play the first match, which will face Atleti against Athletic, due to the accumulation of yellow cards. However, the club's medical services are confident of a quick recovery, as it is a slight injury, so that he can be in top form against Osasuna.

The 20-year-old striker is an important player in the team's set-up, and in his first half at the club he has played 28 games, 24 of them as a starter, and has contributed six goals - one of which was a penalty - and three assists.

Without Joao Felix or Sime Vrsaljko, who underwent knee arthroscopy last Thursday, Atletico's squad resumed training this Monday at the Ciudad Deportiva in the Madrid town of Majadahonda again in groups of less than ten players, as they did all last week. This Tuesday the groups are expected to be increased to 14 men, already allowed.
