Chandigarh Admn to follow Centre's guidelines on quarantine of passengers

Following the fresh guidelines issued by the Central Government on quarantine and isolation protocols of passengers, the Chandigarh Administration on Sunday decided to follow the Central rules.

The Union Government on Sunday, in its release on domestic travel, stated that State Governments/UTs will be able to “develop their own quarantine and isolation protocols as per their assessment”.

The order came amid concerns raised by various States as the Government lifted curbs on air travel and domestic flights are scheduled to resume from May 25 at an operational capacity of 33.33 percent, after which the operations would be expanded in a phased manner.

UT Adviser Manoj Parida on Sunday said that the Administrator VP Singh Badnore has approved to implement Central Government directions on domestic fliers. Asymptomatic passengers can go home and will self monitor health for 14 days. Screening will be done, details of passengers will be kept and undertaking will be taken from them at airport, he said. The Administration will also strictly follow the Central Government’s order on quarantining foreign returnees, he added.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Sunday made it mandatory for stranded Indians arriving from abroad to check into an institutional quarantine for 14 days at their own expense followed by seven days of home isolation.

Specifying guidelines for the international arrivals, the Ministry said that before boarding, all the travellers would have to give an undertaking that they would stick to the above rule to ensure least chances of transmission.

Apart from this, the Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the states need not quarantine those arriving passengers (domestic) who had approval on their Aarogya Setu status and did not show any Coronavirus symptoms.

1600 MIGRANT WORKERS LEAVE FOR UP

A special shramik train accommodating 1600 migrant workers left for Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh from Chandigarh Railway Station on Sunday.

Till date, a total of 29290 passengers have been sent to their home towns from Chandigarh which included 27313 passengers through special shramik trains and 1977 passengers through buses.

On May 26, a shramik train is scheduled from Chandigarh Railway Station for Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh with stoppages at Moradabad, Bareli, Hardoi and Shahanjanpur.
