B’swar TMC inmates demand Covid test for all

The inmates lodged in various Temporary Medical Centres (TMCs) in the district are increasing getting vocal and demanding Covid-19 tests for all. On Saturday, as many as 60 inmates housed in the institutional quarantine centre in Kachuadi under Bhograi block demanded swab test for all of them.

Once they were told by the local BDO that tests would be only conducted for symptomatic persons and rest would be sent to their homes after the statutory period, the inmates staged a dharna and refused to take food,

Later, they withdrew their agitation only when the Tehsildar assured them that all of them would be tested for coronavirus within the next few days.

The TMC inmates said nine asymptomatic persons of the TMC out of the 17 tested positive for the virus. They also apprehend that they might be also infected. Earlier, the officials had assured them that they would be tested before their quarantine period concludes. But now these have taken a U-turn and saying that after going home if they develop the symptoms, it would be looked into.

Similar reports were also reported from a TMC under the Soro Municipality Area. The inmates refused to take their breakfast and staged a dharna demanding test for all. But normalcy was restored when the Executive Officer said s per the guidelines test s would be carried out.
