TUCI holds rally in B'pur on workers' demand
by PNSIn response to the call given by the Central Trade Unions, the Trade Union Centre of India (TUCI) staged a rally before the Joint Labor Commissioner’s office here on Saturday morning on workers' 6-point charter of demands.
Among others, who supported and joined the protest include TUCI affiliated Odisha Nirman Shramik Union (ONSU), Manarega Sramik Sangh (MSS), and Sangrami Sramik Union (SSU).
Trade union leader and district president of Odisha Nirman Shramik Union and secretary of Ganjam District Committee of ONSU Shankar Sahu said the demands include payment of full wages to all the workers for the whole period of lockout; scrap all the anti-worker changes in labor laws, including extension of working day to 12 hours; help the migrant workers not only to reach back to their villages but also for their rehabilitation and steps for their reemployment; pay relief of Rs 10,000 to each unorganised sector worker or self-employed worker and sanction and use of 5 per cent of the GDP towards healthcare.
Rama Chandra Badtiya, P Parvati, Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch convener Abani Gaya and Jana Jagarana Abhijan convenor Madhusudan led the rally.
