Huge illegal liquor consignment seized in UT

In a major breakthrough, the UT Police on Sunday arrested one person and seized a total of 440 boxes of liquor (21120 quarters) concealed in his milk tanker.“An accused named Gaurav Khatri, resident of Mohali, Punjab has been arrested by the UT Police for possessing huge illegal liquor consignment concealed in milk tanker. An FIR has been registered against him under Section 61-1-14 Excise Act,” said a spokesman of Chandigarh Police.

Giving more details, the spokesman said that a team of crime branch led by ASI Rajinder Singh Dhanda got a tip-off from secret informer that one Gujarat registration number milk tanker will carry illegal liquor from Industrial Area, Phase-1 to Gujarat.

It was informed that by adopting this method, illegal liquor has been supplied to Gujarat from here, several times.

Accordingly, a naka was laid near Poultry Farm Chowk, Chandigarh. A Gujarat registration number GJ25-U-3717 milk tanker coming from Industrial Area, Phase-1, Chandigarh was stopped.

During the search of milk van tanker, 440 boxes of illegal liquor make Crazy Romeo Whisky Quarters (total 21120 quarters) were recovered from the tank of this vehicle, the spokesman said.
