371.67 lakh quintals of sugarcane procured in Hry

Haryana Cooperation Minister Banwari Lal on Sunday said that in the current crushing season 2019-20, all ten cooperative sugar mills of the state have procured 371.67 lakh quintals of sugarcane by May 21.

The procurement is made after spending an amount of Rs 1262.54 crore, for which the payment of about Rs 897.12 crore of sugarcane farmers has been made. Out of this the financial assistance of Rs 290 crore provided by the State Government in the form of unsecured loan and Rs 607.12 crore has been given to the farmers by the mills, the Cooperation Minister said.

As compared to the amount of Rs 517.17 crore outstanding till the same date of the previous crushing season, there is an outstanding amount of Rs 365.42 crore during the current crushing season which is 29.34 percent less than the outstanding amount of the previous season, he said. Banwari Lal said that all necessary steps are being taken to make the due payment of Rs 365.42 crore of the current season, at the earliest.

During the current season, till May 21, 370.52 lakh quintal of sugarcane has been crushed, whereas during the previous season, 354.96 lakh quintal of sugarcane had been crushed till the same date, he said.Similarly, during the current season, all the cooperative sugar mills of the state have recovered an average of 10.08 percent sugar till May 21, 2020, while on an average of 10.06 percent sugar was recovered till same date during the previous season, said the Minister.
