We can’t pop into a cafe or restaurant for a boozy brunch right now. And when restrictions ease on June 1, not all our favourite spots will reopen – and those that do will have limited capacity.

But there’s a new way to sip Mimosas and Espresso Martinis over breakfast classics at home. The barbeque specialists at Fancy Hank’s and the team behind LA-inspired eatery The House of Lulu White are here to help you plan your next big weekend in.

The House of Lulu White
You don’t need pastel-pink walls or a palm-tree mural to recreate this cafe’s brunch at home – just one of its new boozy brunch packs, which you can pick up from South Yarra or Hampton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Each $55 pack comes with several beverages (a bottle of sparkling, orange juice, an Espresso Martini, a Bloody Mary and a jar of sangria); a meal kit; and a next-day rehydration sachet from Vitadrop. You even get a playlist to set the mood.

For the meal, choose from three dishes: fish tacos with Asian slaw, nuoc nam (Vietnamese fish sauce) and aioli; a Hawaiian cheeseburger with a Hamptons Bakery brioche bun, beef patty, American cheese, pineapple and onions; and a waffle with orange crème fraîche, berries, maple syrup and a cinnamon biscuit crumb.

Food-wise, the packs serve one, but there’s plenty of booze so you could always share the meal and add on another dish – the rest of the menu includes bibimbap bowls, falafel salads and fried-cauliflower buns.

House of Lulu White’s brunch pack is available for pick-up at House of Lulu White, 4 Yarra Street, South Yarra, or at The Hamptons Bakery, 427 Hampton Street, Hampton. Order online.

These sibling venues share a building on Bourke Street, and now they’re coming together in a new way to bring Americana-themed brunch packs to your home.

Choose from two $45 packs: the heat-at-home version comes with two Cuban sandwiches, pickles, a miso-and-mustard potato salad and Fancy Hank’s cornbread, and the ready-to-eat pack comes with two sandwiches (Cubano, brisket or eggplant), smoked chicken wings, ranch and fries.

DIY Mimosas (Zilzie sparkling and two bottles of Strangelove soft drink) are an additional $25, and Negronis, Old Fashioneds, Margaritas and Daiquiris cost $34 (and serve two). There’s cider and wine, too.

Fancy Hank’s and Good Heavens deliver within five kilometres of the CBD, or you can pick up from 79 Bourke Street, Melbourne. Order here.
