ESPN’s Joe Lunardi Releases New Bracketology On Valentine’s Day

by

We’ve reached the midway point in the month of February, giving us about four weeks left of regular season college basketball. Heading into another big weekend for games, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has released a new “Bracketology.”

Few teams had as good of a week as Texas Tech. The 2019 NCAA Tournament runner-ups are riding a three-game winning streak and find themselves in third place in the Big 12 standings. Lunardi’s new Bracketology has them as a 6-seed against Big East giant Xavier in the Midwest.

Speaking of the Big East, another team that’s quietly been surging recently is Creighton. After winning six of their last seven, the Bluejays have sneaked past Big East rivals Villanova, Butler and Marquette to take second place in the conference. The new Bracketology has rising to a 5-seed in the East and facing No. 12 Yale in the Round of 64.

Here’s a look at Lunardi’s current top-four seed lines, via ESPN:

East Region:

  1. San Diego State
  2. Duke
  3. Seton Hall
  4. Penn State

Midwest Region:

  1. Kansas
  2. Dayton
  3. Auburn
  4. Villanova

South Region:

  1. Baylor
  2. Maryland
  3. Florida State
  4. Kentucky

West Region:

  1. Gonzaga
  2. Louisville
  3. West Virginia
  4. Butler

This weekend’s college basketball slate includes several big matchups, though only one between two top 25 teams. The No. 1 Baylor Bears host No. 14 West Virginia.

Other in-conference games with major implications include No. 22 Illinois at Rutgers, No. 9 Maryland at Michigan State, and Syracuse at No. 8 Florida State.

Will this be the bracket we get for March Madness?
