Former FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, but the 56-year-old has surprisingly revealed that he has other plans for his future.

Valverde has been out of a job since being sacked by Barcelona last month but has been linked with a number of jobs across Europe and, in particular, in the Premier League.

The two-time LaLiga-winning coach recently played down a move to England's top flight, however, when he told an audience at the Bilbao International Football Summit that he has other ideas on his mind.

"People ask me sometimes 'How about the Premier League?', and I say 'Well, actually I'd like to go to Australia'," he said, as reported by the Daily Mail

"A career in football does not last forever and sometimes you think you have to take the opportunity to live in strange places.

"... I haven't been out of work for very long so I don't have to decide anything yet, I haven't got a very clear idea at the moment (but) it's possible I'd go somewhere abroad. The truth is I like to do strange things so I wouldn't rule it out."

Valverde took charge of 145 matches during his time with the Catalan giants, winning two LaLiga crowns, the 2017/18 Copa del Rey and the 2018 Spanish Super Cup.
