'I Didn't Reject Man Utd Because Of Money'

With Erling Haaland being arguably the most in-form striker in the world following his move to Borussia Dortmund, the Norwegian wonderkid has now dismissed claims that he rejected Manchester United to earn more money with the Bundesliga giants.

Haaland, who joined Dortmund last month after excelling with Red Bull Salzburg, has made the most goal contributions across Europe this season, and was chased by United during the January transfer window.

He ultimately elected to move to Germany, however, prompting reports that BVB had offered him a better contractual deal than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Premier League outfit had.

These suggestions have now been dismissed by the player himself, who recently featured on Norwegian television channel Viasport to set the record straight.

"No. The guys writing that would have to speak about that," Haaland said when asked if money was the motivating factor behind his move, as per Sky Sports.

"They'll have to explain it to me if they meet me. It's kind of comical for me to be given that label. All the people closest to me know that's not the kind of person I am. It's really just funny."

The 19-year-old also explained how the move to Dortmund came about, and that he ultimately had little to do with getting the deal over the line.

"When the season was over, my father and I started talking," Haaland added.

"At that point, he didn't mention Dortmund at all. Then I asked him, 'What about this club? That would be nice.' Then he said, 'We'll see.'

"It suddenly became an option and I had a good feeling about it throughout. The process was pretty simple on my end. I just played football and wasn't very involved until the first half of the season was over.

"I didn't have that much to do with it, to be honest. The process was to find the best possible club for me."

Haaland has scored eight goals in his first five appearances for Dortmund, including seven goals from his first seven shots for his new club.
