Tampa Bay Vipers QB Aaron Murray ruled out for Saturday's game against Seattle
by WFTS Digital StaffTampa Bay Vipers starting quarterback Aaron Murray has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Seattle Dragons, the team said.
Murray didn't practice all week, as the team says he is nursing a lower-foot injury he sustained during the first half of Sunday's game against the New York Guardians. He completed 16 of 34 passes for 231 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in the game.
As for the week 2 plan, QB Taylor Cornelis got the majority of the first-team reps at practice this week, and Quinton Flowers handled the rest.
Head coach Marc Trestman says the QB situation is a gametime decision.
“Who starts doesn’t really matter because they’re both going to be in the game,” he said.
Trestman says he had hoped to get Flowers into the game against the Guardians more than he did. Flowers completed one of two passes for 37 yards and provided a spark on the ground with five rushes for 34 yards.
“We didn’t get Quinton in the game early as much as we had planned; we had plans to play him more frequently in the first half,” said Trestman. “We’re going to continue to mix it up and make him part of our offense.”
The Vipers take on the Dragons Saturday at 5 p.m.
