Steve Chettle on Nottingham Forest's promotion hopes

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Nigel Quashie has said there will be “more twists and turns” in the battle for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion lead the way in the Sky Bet Championship by six points with 14 games of the season remaining.

Leeds United have slipped off the pace and are now only ahead of third-placed Fulham on goal difference, and two points above Forest and Brentford.

The Reds can move into the top two – temporarily at least – as they take on the Baggies in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men make the trip to the Hawthorns looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Charlton Athletic, and Quashie thinks the race for promotion is still wide open.

“Well there’s enough games to go and you know as you can see it’s been a difficult month for some teams in January, but you know they’re (Forest) picking up points and getting back at it,” Quashie, who also played for Albion, told Football League World.

“So, there’s a long way to go, I think there’s 14 games to go is there?

“There’s loads of points to play for and I’m sure there’s going to be a few more twists and turns along the way which is all part and parcel of getting promoted.”
