A couple of betas are due to go live today, including a Closed Beta — only available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers — for Ninja Theory's hero shooter, Bleeding Edge and an Open Beta for the twin-stick shooter, West of Dead.
Bleeding Edge
The Bleeding Edge Beta starts today and is available to play over the weekend. Anybody with either an Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription can check out the game. To get access, you'll have to download and install the Bleeding Edge Closed Beta from either the Xbox Game Pass tab on your Xbox One or from the Xbox app on Windows 10. Pre-ordering or playing the beta will unlock you some exclusive skins and items.
Bleeding Edge is a PvP, team-based hero shooter with characters who are "mechanically enhanced." Players can use a variety of different methods to take out their opponents inducing freezing enemies in time, controlling minds, riding missiles and unleashing electrifying guitar solos.
The Open Beta for Bleeding Edge begins today:
- The Americas: Friday 14th, 10 am PT to Monday 17th, 12 am PT
- United Kingdom: Friday 14th, 6 pm GMT to Monday 17th, 8 am GMT
- Europe, Middle East, Africa: Friday 14th, 7 pm CET to Monday 17th, 9 am CET
- Asia and Oceania: Saturday 15th, 5 am AEDT, to Monday 17th, 7 pm AEDT
You can download the Open Beta once it's available using the link below. A second closed beta will run from March 13-16.

West of Dead
The second West of Dead Beta is open and available for everyone to play now. Previously announced at X019, West of Dead is a cover-based twin-stick shooter, where players take on the role of William Mason (voiced by Ron Perlman), a dead man who has since awakened with only the memory of a shadowy figure in black. You will be thrown into the procedurally generated world of purgatory where you'll need to shoot, dodge and slide your way past enemies from the underworld.
The West of Dead Beta will run until February 24. West of Dead is slated for launch sometime this year and is coming to Xbox Game Pass.
West of Dead (BETA)
Purgatory, Wyoming, 1888. A place of gun smoke and darkness, sin and damnation, wendigos and witches. Step into the boots of the dead man William Mason (voiced by Ron Perlman) in this fast-paced twin-stick shooter. Dodge behind cover as you try to outgun your enemies in the unknown procedurally generated hunting grounds. The Wild West has never been this dark.
