Activities & street closures for Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade on February 15

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Street closures have been announced for the Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, February 15.

The parade is set to roll at 6 p.m. on Natchitoches Street in West Monroe.

The parade will travel on Natchitoches Street in downtown West Monroe, turning left onto Trenton Street. The parade will then cross the Lea Joyner Bridge.

The following street closures have been announced for Saturday's parade:

*Trenton Street – will close at 7 a.m. from Mill to Wood Street
*Commerce Street – will close at 12:30 p.m. until approximately 4:30 p.m.
*Cotton Street – will close at 7 a.m. from Bridge to Wood Street
*N. Riverfront to Wood Street – will close at 12:30 p.m. and reopen after the Krewe of PAWS Pet Parade
*Wood Street to Cotton Street – will close at 12:30 p.m. and will reopen after the Krewe of PAWS Pet Parade
*Natchitoches Street – will close at 4 p.m. from the intersection of Stella/Mill east.
*The Lea Joyner Bridge will close to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic at 6 p.m.
*The southbound lane of Trenton Street at Stella Street will close at 6 p.m.
*The eastbound lane of Cypress Street at Bridge Street will close at 6 p.m.

The following activities have also been announced.

There will be several activities happening throughout the day in downtown West Monroe, including the following events:
*11 a.m. – Krewe of PAWS festivities and registration
*11 a.m. to 7 p.m. – Food trucks and festivities in Alley Park
*1 p.m. – Krewe of PAWS Pet Parade
*2 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Live music in Alley Park featuring "Four on the Floor"
*3 p.m. – Jester Jog 5K in Alley Park
*6 p.m. – Krewe of Janus Parade

The West Monroe Police Department reminds the public of the following parade safety tips:

*Do not approach floats to obtain throws.
*Know where your children are at all times and do not let them out of your sight.
*Put the parents' contact information in your children's pocket in case they get separated.
*Come with a group of friends and know your surroundings.
*Do not block streets.
