Faiths join together for tour

The Respect Network and Kelowna Community Resources (KCR) are hosting the Sacred Spaces tour this February to celebrate and highlight different faiths within the community.
The bus tour on Saturday, Feb. 22 will explore five different places of worship in Kelowna for the purpose of learning and deepening understanding of different faiths.
This year's Sacred Spaces builds on the success of last year's event, adding an online photo contest with the hashtag #Respectliveshere2020.
It encourages people to share what respect looks like to them through images.
“The intention of the Respect Network events like the Sacred Spaces Tour and photo contest is to celebrate the wealth of diversity here in Kelowna and to facilitate open understanding and learning” says Anima Anand, KCR Community Resources immigrant services manager.
The tour departs from the Okanagan Heritage Museum at 1 p.m., after an opening blessing and acknowledgement by Okanagan elder Wilfred Barnes of Westbank First Nation.
It will stop in five locations: The Bridge Community of Faith, Okanagan Sikh Temple, Gurdwara Guru Amardas Darbar Sikh Society, Kelowna Islamic Centre – Masjid Project, and the Okanagan Jewish Society.
A small reception with refreshments will follow the tour, starting at 4 p.m. at the museum and featuring an announcement on the winners of the Respect Lives Here photo contest.
Spaces are limited and registration by Feb. 20 is required.
