Andy Couzens reckons Leeds would be 20 points clear, if they had Aleksandr Mitrovic

by

Andy Couzens has told Football League World that Leeds United or any other Championship side would be 20 points clear at the top of England’s second tier – if the Whites had Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic up front.

Leeds needed a striker in the January window after Eddie Nketiah returned to Arsenal halfway through his season-long loan. Towards the end of the window, Leeds brought in Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan until the end of the season.

However, Augustin has managed just two substitute appearances for the club – with Marcelo Bielsa keen to see the Frenchman get up to full fitness and learn the Bielsa way. He has failed to impress in his little amount of game time.

Former Leeds midfielder Couzens was asked about Leeds transfer window and he claimed that if Leeds had Fulham’s £22million (Goal) striker Mitrovic, then Bielsa’s men would be top of the pile by a considerable distance.

“Every club wanted a striker, every club took a risk on a striker,” Couzens said. “If we’d all had a Mitrovic, we’d be 20 points clear.  It’s an okay window. It’s not the best we’ve ever had, but it’s an okay window. But, if the two lads come in and score some goals, it turns into a great window.”

TBR’s view – Mitrovic would have got Leeds promoted

But there would have been zero chance that Fulham would have sold Mitrovic at this point in the season – let alone to Leeds United, one of their main promotion rivals. Mitrovic is the best striker in the league.

Not only for Leeds, but for West Brom too, he would guarantee promotion. A Premier League quality striker, Mitrovic is Fulham’s biggest asset and it looks as though he pushing the west Londoners back into the top flight.
