Kieran Tierney injury update as 'incredible' Arsenal work ethic impresses Mikel Arteta
The Scotland full-back has been showing the Spaniard just what he can bring to the North London club in their winter break in Dubai.
by Darren JohnstoneMikel Arteta has explained why Kieran Tierney’s work ethic has blown him away as he provided an update on the defender's injury situation.
Former Celtic star Tierney has returned to non-contact training after undergoing surgery to mend the dislocated shoulder injury he sustained on December 9 against West Ham.
Former Rangers midfielder Arteta is looking forward to having the £25 million left back available for first team duty having only been appointed to the dugout eleven days after Tierney’s set-back.
And the Spaniard admits he liked what he saw from Tierney, who could be fit for Scotland’s crucial Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Israel next month, during the club’s recent warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
Arteta said: “He is making very good progress but we need to wait for the bone and the attachment to the tendon to heal before he can make any contact.
"He has been training, his work ethic is incredible, I have been really impressed with him so hopefully we can get him back soon but we need to be a little bit patient with him.”
