ASI Slammed By Social Media Users For Planning To Spend Crores On Restoring Aurangzeb’s Coronation Palace

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has received the ire of social media users for planning to restore Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s coronation palace at a cost of Rs 2 to 5 crore, Times of India has reported.

The dilapidated Sheesh Mahal, which is located in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh is believed to have played host to Aurangzeb’s coronation in 1658.

This restoration decision though earned the ire of social media user who questioned ASI’s priorities while pointing out the tyrannical nature of Aurangzeb,

It may be recalled that Aurangzeb was responsible for destroying various Hindu temples, including the Kesava Deo temple where Lord Krishna was born, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Benares, and the Somnath temple in Gujarat.

It has also been documented that four million Indians were killed under Aurangzeb, who reintroduced Jiziya tax on non-Muslims and also forcibly converted Hindus to Islam.
