The latest news from the Gas medical room.

Ben Garner delivered positive injury news on two key Bristol Rovers players at his pre-Blackpool press conference on Friday.

The Rovers boss joined the club in the midst of an injury crisis, but those woes have eased with the squad nearing full health.

However, Garner confirmed a cornerstone of his defence will miss the rest of the season.

Here is the latest Gas medical room.

Josh Hare

The right-back was one of the shining lights for Rovers in the early weeks of the season before being cruelly sidelined with a torn ACL.

However, his is ahead of schedule in his recovery, having spent more than a week in full training with his team.

And Garner revealed Hare is ready for the next stage of his return.

"Josh has again trained all week this week," Garner said.

"The plan is he will play on Tuesday in the under-23 game against Plymouth, and hopefully all being well he comes through that game and he will then be available for first-team selection."

Liam Sercombe

Garner also had good news to share on the recovery of Sercombe, who has also has missed four games after sustaining a shoulder injury against Fleetwood Town.

The midfielder is due to return to action sooner rather than later.

Garner said: "We’ve had good news on Liam. He will come back into training next week.

"Once we get an injection into the shoulder the following week, that will be him back and available."

Tom Davies

Garner revealed a week ago Davies was likely to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, and that was confirmed this week with surgery planned in the coming weeks.

The centre-half, like Hare, has been excellent for the Gas this season but a promising campaign has been tarnished by tendinitis.

"Surgery required for Tom, and that’s going to be towards the end of February, so we’re just supporting Tom in the meantime because it’s obviously a big blow for him as an individual," Garner told Bristol Live.

"It’s very important for us to support him and help him as a person to cope with a difficult situation, and obviously we will help him with his rehab and recovery.

"Everyone’s bitterly disappointed for him, but he’s a very strong character. He’s got a great determination, and I’m sure he will come through stronger the other side."

James Daly

The striker, who joined from Crystal Palace on deadline day, has been forced to wait for his debut after rolling his ankle in training last week.

He travelled to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday and completed a full running session with the fitness coach before kick off, and Garner said he would return to training this week.

Garner said a couple of players, who he did not name, are touch and go for Saturday's visit of Blackpool, but if he came through Friday's session Daly with no trouble Daly is in with a shout of making his bow in the blue and white quarters against the Tangerines.

Gavin Reilly

Similarly to Daly, Reilly has not been in the past two matchday squads with a knock sustained on training.

He did not travel to Prenton Park, but like Daly Garner hoped he would train on Thursday and Friday with a view to being available on Saturday.
