First ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Trailer Answer a Big Mystery

by

I’m going to be honest. I don’t watch Stranger Things. I just don’t care about the 1980s. But you can’t work for a website called Geek.com and not be at least somewhat familiar with Netflix’s streaming phenomenon about the Hawkins kids and the spooky, interdimensional shenanigans they get up to.

Season 3 last year ended on a big cliffhanger involving the fate of a major adult character. And now this first teaser for Stranger Things season 4 gives us one answer while creating more questions.

Yup, that sure is David Harbour as Sheriff Jim Hopper. He didn’t die. Now he’s just a bald prisoner of the Russians, something viewers could’ve guessed anyway given the nature of the end of season 3. See him toiling away at a miserable snowy work camp. Poor guy. Hopper’s return is basically the only thing confirmed in this trailer, “From Russia With Love,” but it’s a big confirmation that should lead to a lot of fan speculation. We’re still wrapping our heads around the mysterious first episode title, “The Hellfire Club,” as well.

How long will this speculation last? We see some folks guessing that Stranger Things could return sometime this December. Given that the show most likely only has one of two seasons left (those kids are growing up fast) the Duffer Brothers surely want to get things right.

In the meantime, you can see David Harbour play a different kind of Russian in Black Widow this May. And revisit Netflix’s 12 Days of Stranger Things celebration from last year.
