5 things we noticed from Man Utd's training camp in Malaga ahead of huge clash against Chelsea
United's stars have been lapping up some winter sun on the Costa del Sol and look in a relaxed mood ahead of their game against fellow top-four challengers Chelsea on Monday
by Irishmirror.ieManchester United's senior squad took to the training pitch in sunny conditions on Friday as they continue to prepare for their match against Chelsea on Monday.
The Red Devils know that a loss against the Blues could all but end their hopes of finishing in the top four this season, whereas victory would move them just three points behind Frank Lampard's side.
If there are any nerves creeping into the camp they were not visible during Friday's session, and the players looked visibly at ease as they were put through their paces in Malaga.
Here are five things we noticed from Spain...
1) Fernandes settling in nicely
Bruno Fernandes appears to have wasted no time in getting to know his new teammates, and it looks as though he has been welcomed in with open arms by the rest of the players.
Coach Michael Carrick spoke of how Fernandes has had no issues with settling in, and he demonstrated this on Friday, laughing and smiling with the rest of the team and appearing completely at ease.
After an assured debut against Wolves earlier this month he will be hoping to show his best against Chelsea, and it would be the perfect time to truly win over the United fans once and for all.
2) Chong still happy despite move rumours
The future is still uncertain for 20-year-old winger Tahith Chong. The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the season and he has yet to make a decision on whether to sign a new deal, with the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus thought to be expressing an interest in the player.
Despite this, he still appears to be enjoying himself at United, and was as committed as ever during training drills, at one point seemingly collapsing to the floor following his exertions.
How much first-team football he is afforded in the coming weeks may ultimately help him decide on his next move.
3) Bailly nearing return to action
Eric Bailly is the forgotten man at Old Trafford, having been ruled out of action all season with a knee injury he picked up in a friendly against Tottenham in July.
He recently made a return for the U-23s, however, and there are hopes he could be named in the squad against Chelsea.
Bailly has been seen looking relatively comfortable during training in Malaga, and his return would be a boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and add further strength in depth to United's back-line.
With a long history of injury issues, however, Red Devils fans will be praying he can keep himself fit this time.
4) Team spirit shines through
There can be no denying that it has been a difficult season for United both on and off the pitch.
But Solskjaer has always insisted the morale inside the dressing room is good, and there was evidence of this in Malaga, with every player seemingly enjoying themselves and pictured with beaming smiles.
The team are clearly a close-knit bunch, and they will need to stick together over the coming months if they are to have a successful end to what has been a mixed campaign.
5) Captain Maguire leads team to victory
There was a typical amount of competitiveness on show, and after engaging in a training game that appeared to involve bibs and lots of running about it was Harry Maguire's team that came out on top.
He was clearly delighted with the victory, and celebrated with fellow members of his side, which included Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Phil Jones.
The United captain will be hoping there are just as many delighted faces at full-time at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
