NLEX Harbor Link Malabon Exit to officially open February 21

Entire C3-R10 Section of NLEX Harbor Link to be operational by March 2020

A few weeks ago, the NLEX Corporation announced that a new portion of the NLEX Harbor Link will be opened to the public this February. The new section (called C3-R10) will make for faster travel time between NLEX and the Port Area.

Now, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), along with NLEX Corporation, have officially announced that the Malabon Exit of the C3-R10 section along Dagat-Dagatan Avenue will officially open next week on February 21.

This comes after officials from the DPWH and the NLEX Corporation made the final inspection of the C3 to Dagat-Dagatan segment. “This inspection is in preparation for the opening of the C3 to Dagat-Dagatan portion, which is about 1.2 kilometers. We are making sure that all the safety features of the expressway are in place before we open it to the public,” said Mark Villar, DPWH Secretary.

As to when the entire segment will be opened to motorists, Villar stated that the entire 2.6 kilometer C3-R10 section will be operational by March 2020. The new NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Segment starts from Caloocan Interchange, C3 Road, Caloocan City to Radial Road 10, Navotas City. It then connects to the previously opened 5.65-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 that passes through Karuhatan, Valenzuela City, Governor Pascual Avenue in Malabon City, and 5th Avenue/C3 Road, Caloocan City.

Once fully opened, it is expected to reduce travel time from Port Area to NLEX to just 10 minutes and is being eyed to provide direct access for commercial vehicles, especially heavy trucks.

“We are anticipating that truckers and freight forwarders will greatly benefit from this new road since their cargo trucks will have 24/7 access, and in turn translate to faster delivery of goods to and from the provinces in North and Central Luzon,” said Raul Ignacio, NLEX Corporation Chief Operating Officer.

As part of the Duterte Administration's “Build, Build, Build” program, the NLEX Harbor Link is seen to decongest traffic along EDSA and other parts of Metro Manila. In addition, it is expected to drive up commerce between the Port Area, and Central and Northern Luzon.
