Redskins Reportedly Make Decision On All-Pro Corner Josh Norman
by Chris RosvoglouFree agency hasn’t started yet, but there’s a big name that is about to be available for the taking. After spending four seasons with the Washington Redskins, veteran cornerback Josh Norman is going to hit the open market.
Norman signed a five-year deal worth $75 million with the Redskins back in 2016. Although there’s one year remaining on his contract, the front office has decided to move on from the Coastal Carolina product.
According to NFL Network insider, the Redskins are releasing Norman. The timing of this move actually helps the former All-Pro cornerback because he’ll now have a chance to find another team before free agency begins.
Washington signed Norman after his incredible season with the Carolina Panthers back in 2015. During his time with the Redskins, he totaled 235 tackles, eight forced fumbles and seven interceptions.
There’s no denying that Norman’s best days are behind him. However, a contender might want to take a chance on the veteran cornerback.
Norman shouldn’t cost nearly as much as he did the past few seasons. At 32 years old, the former fifth-round pick is nearing the end of his career.
It’ll be interesting to see if Norman can find a new home before free agency begins in March.
