Former Top Head Coach Reportedly Visiting Alabama, Nick Saban

Alabama’s coaching staff for next season already looks pretty strong at the moment, but Nick Saban isn’t afraid to add reinforcements when necessary. That being said, it appears the program has its sights set on a former Texas head coach.

According to Alabama reporter Aaron Suttles, former head coach Charlie Strong was in Tuscaloosa visiting with the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff. There aren’t any additional details available at the moment though.

Strong first began his head coaching career with the Louisville Cardinals. He owned a 37-15 record in four years with the program, and he even led the team to an upset win over Florida in the Sugar Bowl.

Following his stint at Louisville, Strong made the jump over to the Big 12 to coach Texas, where he struggled to find success. South Florida quickly gave Strong a chance to redeem himself, but after three years he’s once again looking for another opportunity.

Even though Strong has been considering an analyst role with the Florida Gators, it might be too hard to pass up an offer from the Crimson Tide.

Over the years, we’ve seen Alabama help revitalize coaches’ careers. Lane Kiffin is the latest example as he’s now the head coach at Ole Miss.

It’s possible that Strong will become the next coach to rebuild his image by spending a season or two under Saban.
