‘Last Year’ Introduces New Map, New Features in Latest Update

Elastic Games have given fans of their asymmetric multiplayer game Last Year a treat with a massive new update to the game, adding a new map and more.

The first in the “Afterdark” series of Forest Maps is The Sawmill. The map is unique in that it introduces a brand-new mechanic: Environmental Kills! Between sawblades and rushing trains, both Classmates and Fiends will have to be extra careful navigating this map.

Along the way, Classmates can also pick up a new weapon in the form of a chainsaw, which is found in a specific spawn point in The Sawmill. Those who grab it will be unable to run or carry quest items, but at least you’ll be packing something to carve up a Fiend.

The update also introduces The Shop, which as you might expect, allows players to buy in-game currency, as well as allow you to grab unique skins. The Shop will allow players to spend real money to buy more Stash Cards, get the new hard currency in the form of Mystic Ore, or purchase bundles that include a skin, some cards, and ore for discounted prices.

And yes, because it’s Valentine’s Day, the team have introduced new cosmetics for players to unlock, including the timed exclusive Bloody Valentine event skins. You can read up more on the update on the official Steam page.
