AAP under fire for 'ordering' school teachers to attend Arvind Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony

The circular, signed by OSD Ravinder Kumar, further asks all school principals to make and submit a list of 20 teachers who will attend the function at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.

Aam Adami Party has come under fire for allegedly ordering Delhi government school teachers to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly-elected Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday.

According to a circular shared by both Congress and BJP on social media, Directorate of Education has issued a circular inviting all school teachers, principals, vice-principals, happiness coordinators, department of education officials and mentor teachers to the swearing-in ceremony.

The circular, signed by OSD Ravinder Kumar, further asks all school principals to make and submit a list of 20 teachers who will attend the function at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.

Congress leader Mukesh Sharma termed the order a misuse of the government machinery. "New model of swearing ceremony! For Arvind Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony, the government has issued an official notice to government schools to attend the event, meaning the crowd is being gathered by misusing power. Your excellency @LtGovDelhi takes note of this immediately. This subject merits investigation," Mukesh Sharma said on Twitter.

BJP Delhi spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor also tried to corner AAP chief on the issue. "After winning the election on the basis of free declarations, Aam Aadmi Party has MLAs but no public support. Arvind Kejriwal is so worried about the lack of people in the swearing-in, he has issued a decree through the Chief Secretary asking 30000 teachers to reach Ramlila ground on Sunday," the BJP leader claimed.
