Toke Makinwa: If Valentine’s Day is once in a year for you, find another lover
by James OjoToke Makinwa, Nigerian media personality, says Valentine’s Day celebration should not be seen as an annual yet one-day affair between two lovers.
The 35-year-old TV personality and vlogger disclosed this in a series of posts on her social media page, where she reflected on the annual celebration which holds on February 14.
According to her, love should be something celebrated between two lovers on a daily basis. She also called on those in relationship where the reverse is the case to consider quitting.
“If Valentine’s Day is not everyday with you and your lover then find another lover, who waits till one date in the calendar to show love, I’m personally over the Fad but happy Valentine’s Day,” she wrote on Twitter.
Makinwa further called on people not give in to the undue influences — borne out of misconception of the actual meaning of Valentine’s Day — holding sway in the society
“Happy Lovers day, if you are alone today, remember it’s only one day of all the noise, do not let the pressure get to you, a love that’s truly deserving of you will find you and then you can be loved like you want to be and deserve to be as you love another the same. God loves you, celebrate yourself, love on you today and keep your head up,” she added.
“To those who feel alone today, don’t feel the pressure, it is only 24 hours of all the noise, hang in there, you won’t always be alone, a love deserving of you is on the way.”
