Hyundai's new EV concept reminds us of a Porsche 911

Is Hyundai planning to reveal an all-electric sports car in Geneva?

Hyundai will be at the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show in full force. Aside from preparing to reveal the all-new i20 and the refreshed i30, the automaker will also show an electric vehicle (EV) concept simply dubbed the 'Prophecy'

According to Hyundai, the EV will also come with the brand's new Sensuous Sportiness design language. This means that just like the i20, the EV concept might feature the brand's new look that consist of sleek lines, sharp angles, and the elegant curves.

However, SangYup Lee, Head of Hyundai Global Design Center, stated that the Prophecy will not conform to trends like a typical electric vehicle. “Prophecy does not follow trends. It accentuates timeless beauty that will stand the test of time. Its iconic design stands to expand Hyundai’s design spectrum toward even broader horizons,” said Lee.

While we have yet to see the concept in full, it does appear to look like a certain sports car from Germany. From the back, the Hyundai Prophecy somewhat resembles a Porsche 911's rear with its wide fenders, huge wing, and distinct roofline. While that may have been purely coincidental, it does give the Prophecy a cool look.

But what about the front? We only got to see a glimpse of it from the video teaser, but it appears that it will have no Cascading Grill. However, eye-catching LED headlights, along with a long hood give the Prophecy a clean and sophisticated look. We also managed to see the concept's sporty silhouette which shows a sloping roofline, as well as some huge alloy wheels wrapped in low-profile tires.

With all the mystery surrounding Hyundai's latest EV concept, it looks like the automaker is playing this one close to their chest. But given the EV's shape and appearance from the teaser, is this a preview of an all-electric sports car from Hyundai? We'll just have to wait and see come March when Hyundai unveils it at this year's Geneva Motor Show. Fingers crossed it will look as stunning as the teasers.
