Myles Garrett Doubles Down, Accuses Mason Rudolph Of Using Racial Slur

In a new interview with ESPN’s Mina Kimes, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett again alleged that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph uttered a racial slur towards him before a brawl between the two teams erupted.

During a Thursday night game on November 14, Garrett and Rudolph got tangled up on the ground during a play. Following the play, Rudolph and Garrett wrestled for each other’s helmets.

Garrett won out, and when Rudolph confronted the defensive end once again, Garrett hit the quarterback in the head with his helmet. The NFL handed the Browns star an indefinite suspension, which resulted in six games.

“He called me the N-word,” Garrett told Kimes during an interview. “He called me a ‘stupid N-word.'”

“When he said it, it kind of sparked something, but I still tried to let it go and still walk away. But once he came back, it kind of reignited the situation. And not only have you escalated things past what they needed to be with such little time in the game left, now you’re trying to reengage and start a fight again.”

Rudolph denied the allegations the first time around, calling the allegations “totally untrue.”

“I couldn’t believe it,” Rudolph said at the time. “I couldn’t believe he would go the route after the fact.”

The quarterback has not commented on Garrett’s claims stemming from the interview.
