2021 Mercedes E-Class Facelift Shows Off Sleek New Headlights
This is our best look yet at the updated Mercedes E-Class.
by Martin BiggWe've known for some time now that the Mercedes E-Class family is getting an update soon. Numerous spy shots have already shown camouflaged prototypes of the updated E-Class in coupe, sedan, and wagon guises. Mercedes has even released some official photos of the camouflaged E-Class prototype in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As its world debut gets closer, the 2021 Mercedes E-Class Coupe facelift has been caught on video cruising city streets with significantly less camo hiding the details. In a video posted by YouTube channel walkoARTvideos, the 2021 E-Class Coupe can be seen with its front and rear bumpers covered up, but the new headlights and taillights are fully exposed.
As expected, the headlights and taillights have been restyled to resemble those found on other recent Mercedes models like the CLA. The covering also suggests the front and rear bumpers will be subtly tweaked.
Mercedes recently confirmed the 2021 E-Class will be offered with seven plug-in hybrid options. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an integrated starter generator and a 48-volt system producing 268 hp will also be introduced to the engine options list, with EQ boost providing an additional 20 hp. Additionally, a six-cylinder gasoline unit with an integrated starter generator and 48-volt system rated at 362 hp will also be available with a 20-hp EQ boost.
Inside, the luxurious cabin will have improved comfort, a steering wheel with new touch controls, and two large 10.25-inch displays as standard, along with an updated MBUX infotainment system. As we saw in a recent video, the cruise control, phone, audio, and voice command buttons have also been rearranged.
Expect the 2021 E-Class to be equipped with the latest driver-assist technology including an active distance assist that can help avoid traffic jams. Mercedes hasn't confirmed when the 2021 E-Class will be revealed, but we're expecting it to debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show next month.
