Weekend betting tips: Four bets that could make you a fortune
Best bets for horse racing and football
by Eamon DoggettThere is another great weekend of sport ahead of us with Tiger Roll the star attraction.
The two-time Grand National will make his seasonal appearance at Navan on Sunday ahead of another tilt at the Cheltenham Festival before Aintree beckons.
There is also Premier League action, hurling and rugby with plenty to look forward to.
Here are our best bets for the weekend:
Kilfenora 1.50pm Navan Sunday 11/4
All eyes will be on Tiger Roll when he makes his seasonal reappearance at Navan on Sunday.
Still only ten years old, the son of Authorised is gearing up towards a defence of his cross-country title at Cheltenham before a likely attempt to emulate Red Rum and win a third Aintree Grand National.
This time last year his trainer Gordon Elliott said he was only half-cooked and was sent off a 25/1 shot for this very race.
The horse didn't know his odds though and ended up a cosy winner before his spring domination.
This season an injury has Elliott saying that he is even further behind at this stage of this season than he was last year.
It might be foolish to ever underestimate this horse again, but at the prices, I am going to side with some race fitness.
Kilfenora is the one that stands out to take the step up from handicap company in his stride.
The eight-year-old has always promised to win a big staying handicap hurdle and the penny seems to have dropped this season.
He got a nine-pound rise for a comfortable handicap win at Naas in November, but that didn't stop him going in again at this track last time out.
Off a mark of 143, he and the well-touted Alfa Mix pulled some eighteen lengths clear of the third in what looked like a competitive affair on paper.
Kilfenora was a shade value for a bigger winning margin too and looks well capable of winning at graded level in a fascinating contest.
Wolves to beat Leicester Friday 8pm 6/4
A much needed break has been had for both these sides after a hectic couple of months.
Between the Europa League, League Cup, FA Cup and Premier League, Wolves' small squad has been stretched to the limit.
But they have had a two-week break and are fancied to see off Leicester at Molineux.
The Foxes' form has dipped a little in recent months and Wolves definitely look the value.
First Approach 4pm Navan Sunday
First Approach makes most appeal in the Ten Up Novice Steeplechase.
Always held in high regard by Noel Meade, he was disappointing in midfield in last year's Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle.
But the son of Robin Des Champs was much improved in finishing just six lengths behind Minella Indo at Punchestown.
Meade's charge was behind that rival again and the reopposing Captain CJ at this very track on his chase debut last month when jumping well.
But his rivals on that occasion had race fitness on their sides and the chance is taken that he can reverse the form with Captain CJ, while respect his given to Speak Easy for each-way purposes.
Norwich (+2 goals) to beat Liverpool Saturday 5.30pm 10/11
Yes, Liverpool have been an unstoppable force this season and yes, Norwich are at the foot of the table.
But 10/11 about Norwich winning with a two goal headstart looks generous.
Liverpool, bar a few exceptions, have not been blowing teams away with a countless amount of 1-0 wins.
It may be hard to see Norwich breaching the Reds' defence, but equally you can see the Canaries staying in this one for a long time on their home turf.
