Turkish Defence Minister meets Pakistan Army Chief
by MatiRAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey General (retd) Hulusi Akar met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pakistan army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, and measures to further enhance bilateral defence collaboration between Pakistan and Turkey were discussed.
The COAS said that Pakistan values its unique relationship with Turkey and would always stand by our brothers.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions for conflict prevention in the region and for standing by Turkey and pledged the same for Pakistan.
Separately, the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu also held a meeting with his Pakistani Counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad today and discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, and regional & international issues.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Plenary Session of Pakistan-Turkey High Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Islamabad.
Matters pertaining to Afghan peace process and tensions in the Middle East also came under discussion during the meeting.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi lauded the Turkish support to Pakistan’s principled stance on Kashmir issue.
