Plan to build home near Kilmarnock Park rejected by East Ayrshire Council

A number of objections have been lodged.

A housebuilder’s second bid to build homes near the Dean Park has been rejected by East Ayrshire Council today.

Persimmon Home’s application to build 49 houses on Dean Road was thrown out by the local authority’s planning committee this morning.

A 13-point recommendation put to councillors outlined why the application should be refused.

The officer’s report said that the bid did not accord with numerous aspects of the East Ayrshire local development plan.

A total of 10 objections were raised over the proposals. East Ayrshire Leisure also objected to the proposals.

Councillor Tom Cook moved to refuse the application, telling the meeting: “I’m failing to see why this application was even submitted.”

The motion was backed by councillor Fiona Campbell and went unopposed by other members of the committee.

Persimmon Homes have been contacted for comment.
