BS6 Bajaj Pulsar range power figures revealed

Here is how fuel-injection and a revised exhaust system have affected the power figures of the recently-launched BS6-compliant Bajaj bikes.

Bajaj has just updated its entire line-up – including the Pulsar, Avenger, CT and Platina range – to meet the upcoming emission regulations. We were the first to get you the prices, and we now have the power figures of some of the recently-launched BS6-compliant motorcycles.

As we’ve seen with many other manufacturers, there is a change in the power figures but it's not all bad news and we’re actually seeing an increase in some of the models. These changes have come about owing to the modification in the fuelling system, from carburettors to fuel injection, as well as significant work put into making the engines less polluting. Here is how the numbers have changed in the Pulsar range:

Pulsar 150 range

While the BS4 models made 14hp at 8,000rpm, the new BS6-compliant ones makes the same 14hp at a slightly higher 8,500rpm. Torque, meanwhile, has gone down from 13.4Nm at 6,000rpm to 13.25Nm at 6,500rpm.

Pulsar 180F

The BS6-compliant model now makes 17.02hp at 8,500rpm, which is identical to the power figure of the BS4-compliant model. Torque figures aren’t available just yet, but we could see the torque figure drop slightly, like in the Pulsar 150.

Pulsar NS200

 NS200 enthusiasts will be happy to know that the power figure has gone up with the switch to BS6. It now makes 24.47hp at 9,750rpm, while the BS4 bike made 23.5hp at 9,500rpm. We’re yet to see the torque figures for this model as well.

Pulsar RS200

Since the RS200 was already fuel-injected, Bajaj has managed to keep the power unchanged, at 24.47hp at 9,750rpm, on the fully-faired bike. Torque figures are yet to be confirmed.
