It is upon this background that the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) management committee rescinded an earlier decision to waive medical checks for competitors in the Rukaari-Lake Mburo Mbarara rally on Saturday and Sunday.

All drivers were on Thursday directed to go to Ali Medical Centre for a medical check-up before the Mbarara rally.

“Yes it is true we have been sent to Ali Medical centre and many of us have completed the check-up while others are still going,” John Bosco Musisi a rally navigator confirmed the development.

Dr. Ashraf Ahmed has been offering the service in the previous season, but the new FMU management committee had sought to change yet they had not identified a new service provider.

Early this week United Motorsport Club (UMOSPOC) vice president Justin Mungoma advised FMU to rescind the decision following a notice by the general secretary Irene Blick.

Lubega charged

Godfrey Lubega, commonly known as Tallman, has set himself a target of finishing in the top three in Mbarara.

Lubega, navigated by Bashir Mbogo in a Subaru N12, finished sixth in 2017 and looks forward to better that.

“We are fine-tuning the car before I leave for Mbarara, but I can assure you, we are going for a podium fight,” Lubega said at MD Garage Kalerwe in the outskirts of Kampala.

The event has attracted 33 crews.
